Zoning Teach-In January 16th
MACCNO will have teach-in on January 16th, 12pm at Kermit's. It will cover the basics of land use and zoning, including how they relate to the master plan and the permitting process, how to read a land use and zoning map, and basic terminology. There will be hand outs as well. Think of this as Land Use/Zoning 101. Our education on these issues is vital if we are to be a part of the decision-making process.
Frenchmen Street Zoning Tomorrow at 1:30pm, the City Planning Commission will be discussing the new venue proposed to go in at 516 Frenchmen Street. Whether or not you agree with Frenchmen street adding a large-scale live music venue, this meeting will be informational. MACCNO has taken no official position on this issue.
The "Clean Zone"
We have been alerted to some potential issues regarding the SuperBowl "Clean Zone." On Wednesday we will be discussing these. If you are unfamiliar with this temporary zoning, the current regulations are posted here.
Call for Volunteers
We need volunteers to help on many different offshoot committees. Each of the members of the Planning/Facilitation Committee have volunteered to be point people for each. We welcome any help on discovery and implementation around the following issues (non-comprehensive list):
-CZO and planning
-policing and enforcement
-cultural overlays
-permitting
-community engagement (neighborhood associations, business associations)
-community engagement (outreach)
-venues as a category
-noise ordinance
-administration
-teach-ins
-website and social media.
Above all, please spread the word and plan to attend the next MACCNO meeting this Wednesday, January 9th at noon at Kermit's Tremé Speakeasy.
